Error installing Onecare again after harddrive failure and OS reinstalled....

Question
-
I cannot seem to get Onecare to install again, which is critical to recovering all my work. After a harddrive failure I had a new one fitted and XP Pro reinstalled up to SP3, with, as far as I know, all relevant updates.
However Onecare hangs with error 0017-80040276. I've read the KB and the strands on this forum, tried most of them. Firewall off, nothing else yet installed on a clean pc.
Can you offer any advice? Is there something missing which might not have been reinstalled with XP?

If running the cleanup tool as Douglas suggests does not resolve the issue please contact support. How to reach support - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/onecareinstallandactivate/thread/30400b52-7f26-4ba0-bc18-17e305329d90

Your best bet is to uninstall Onecare then run the Onecare clean-up tool. The link to the clean-up tool is below. After running the clean-up tool run Windows Updates just to be safe then try installing Onecare again.

Thanks guys, but I don't actually have it installed yet! After putting a new harddrive in my laptop I am trying to reinstall Onecare by downloading it from the internet. So there's NOTHING to uninstall.Saturday, June 20, 2009 8:04 PM

The 0017 error is a download error so contacting support would be the best way to get help with this issue.
