Migration from CRM 3.0 to CRM 4.0/3.0 RRS feed

  • Hello,

    I want to migrate data  and all customization from CRM 3.0 to CRM 3.0, both are different domain.
    One is licensed server(from which i want to migrate) new one is 90 days trial version.

    I go through the following steps.
    1.Install CRM 3.0
    2.Uninstall CRM 3.0(only for using crm created database i have do this.)
    3.Redeployment done.
    4.CRM 3.0 install with existing database.

    If i am doing installation taking
    existing database before restore,It is working.

    After restoring existing  database  it is giving error
    "The existing database is not compatible with the installation Microsoft Dynamic CRM".
    If i will not restore i did not get my previous data.

    5. I have done this steps also.

    UPDATE BuildVersion SET Revision = X (where X == the 3.0.5400.X of the
    SetupServer.exe product version)
    UPDATE OrganizationBase SET Name = 'new organization name'
    DELETE FROM License
    Please give me steps how to migrate data from CRM 3.0 to 4.0 and 3.0 to 3.0

    Please help me to go ahead.

  • The process is as follows:

     

    1. Backup the source database and restore to a SQL Server in the new domain
    2. Run the CRM redeployment tool on the database in the new domain
    3. Install CRM in the new domain and select connect to existing database
    4. Ensure that you apply the same service updates to the new CRM as were applied to the source CRM

    I'm not sure from whay you write whether this is what you've done but I suspect that the problem is to do with the service updates not being applied to the new CRM installation.

     

    Also, I don't think you need to run the SQL commands that you have in step 5.

    But I am following same process which you have mentioned, but still i am geting errors.

     "The existing database is not compatible with the installation Microsoft Dynamic CRM".

    Is there any problem in the naming  Organization ,Organization Name hould be same or different.
     


    You just clear me the point which u have mentioned:same service updates to the new CRM as were applied to the source CRM.

    You want to express same version or what .
    Finally i want to restore the data and customization from different domain to my system.

    Please help me.

  • I'm not sure what else I can advise.

     

    By service updates I mean if the source system had Update Rollup 3 then make sure the new system also has Update Rollup 3. Perhaps you applied a hotfix to the source system - if so, make sure that you apply the hotfix to the new system as well.

     

    The redeployment tool is meant to allow moving CRM databases from one domain to another domain - so it should work.
