  • Question

  • I have a toshiba satellite model A305 PSAG8U-02E018.  I had a just changed a few hardware items on here and when I got it back up and running it said I had to validate my windows.  Everytime I enter my key I get an error 0xC004E003 and the description says "The Software Licensing Service reported that license evaluation failed.".  I am entering the same exact key from my sticker and I even rewrote it on my paperwork so I would ensure I got it correct.  I went to the microsoft.com online validation and nothing happened.  I downloaded the windows genuine advantage diagnostics tool (1.9.0027.0) and am pasting the results below.  I was going to try to do a system restore to an earlier time but some how my system protection was turned off.  I am at a point where I do not know what to do.

    MGAD TOOL RESULTS:

You can reactivate your Windows Vista installation by performing the following:

    1. Click on the Start button and in the Start Search box type in:  slui.exe 4

    2. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.

    3. Select your Country.

    4. Follow the instructions for phone activation (no charge).

NOTE: When you call that number, you will first hear an Automated Voice. If the Automated Voice gives you an option to talk to a
Live Activation Rep, select that option. If not, do not enter any numbers. This should force the Automated Voice to transfer you to
a Live Activation Rep. Trying to activate thru the Automated Voice will not work, in your case, only thru the Live Activation Rep
     will your activation be successful.

  • I did try that option as well but slui.exe never came up.... no options were provided to call at all when I did that.

Please attempt to change the Product Key to the one on your COA sticker, using the link to Change Product Key at the bottom of the System Properties page.
If that fails, try the command
    SLUI  3
in the Search box - hit the Enter key and see what happens.

Post back with your results, and a new MGADiag report.

Interesting - there's no actual error code in the report at all, which is unusual. The only sign of a problem is that the OEM_SLP Key is showing as being unactivated - and that can't happen without something else also being screwed.

I can only think that the Licensing Store is corrupt.....

Please try the below steps to recreate the Store files.  This may resolve the issue.

    1) Open an Internet Browser window.
    2) Type: %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.
    3) Find the file CMD.exe
    4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
    5) Type: net stop slsvc  (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes - don't worry if it tells you the service isn't running anyhow!))
    6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
    7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    8) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    9) Type: net start slsvc
    10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
    11) Restart your computer twice.
    12) You may be required to enter the Product Key and/or Activate.

     Reboot

Once complete, please post back with a new MGADiag report

Still no clues in the report :(
What Anti-Virus software are you using? Anti-malware? Firewall?
Have you *ever* had Norton software installed?
Have you *ever* had McAfee software installed?

This is possibly a counterfeit (a LOT of software bought on eBay, craigslist, and other such sites is) - please post a new MGADiag report so that we can check, and speed your complaint, if so.
