Why is Excel so stupid RRS feed

  • Question

  • Try this:

    1. type some numbers in some cells

    2. use the SUM function to get the total of those numbers

    3. go to another cell and type in another number

    4. go to another cell and set it equal to the cell that has the sum function plus the cell in #3.

    What do you get? "0". That's right 500 + 900 = 0 according to THE BRILLIANT EXCEL!

  • By the way, when reading your question, I tried the following and it worked (below says what I wrote in the cells above):

    100 200 300 300 900 500 1400
    100 200 300 300 =SUM(A1:D1) 500 =E1+F1
