  • Question

  • Trying to perform my 1st install and keep running into this error:

Have checked download CRC - it's OK.

Burned DVD with good media, slowest setting, using NERO with data verification.

Hopefully not a download or a media issue...

Wondering if I have a hardware compatability issue - do I need to use an answer file with a setup disc?

    Gigabyte 8I-EXP 9 (rev 2.o)

F9 bios last release (issued years ago)

Promise 20276 lite raid controller - set to ATA/133 configuration

    Thoughts?

  • Out of curosity - I rearranged my components - so that I was booting from an std ata/100 controller instead of the Promise 20276 controller chip.

With that change, I was able to proceed to the drive identification screen - where I presumably could add any  required drivers.

So apparently, the ata/133 driver for the promise 20276 is not included in the installation disk.

I'll have to add the driver at this stage and then switch the boot devcie back to the promise controller to confirm that it still works.

No message to press F6 for installation of any needed driver.

So apparently - an answer file is the only solution to my situation at this date.
