WGA PLEASE HELP!

Question
-
I just recently compressed my c:\ drive on my computer and immediately afterwards was notified that I need to activate windows. All the Microsoft KB and other articles I have not been able to find out how to activate my windows so that I know if my product is Genuine which it is since I have been using this computer for over a year with no problems. Also, I have tried the KB article telling me to go to START, ALL PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, ACTIVATE WINDOWS, but that option is not available to me. What should I do. PLEASE HELP!!!

Try the following:
1. Reboot your computer into "Safe Mode".
2. Go to Start > Run and type: %systemroot%\system32 then press the Enter key.
3. Locate these two files: wpa.dbl and wpa.bak
4. Rename the wpa.dbl file to wpaold.dbl and wpa.bak to wpaold.bak
5. Reboot your computer into Normal mode.
This will force re-activation on the following reboot.

I do not have the file name wpa.bak. I already renamed the wpa.dbl to wpaold.dbl but the other file still remains (wpa.dbl). Do I need to delete it? How can I get the wpa.bak file since its not on my computer?Sunday, July 30, 2006 6:21 AM
