Microsoft Share Computer + Wsus + RIS + KB892130 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hrmmm i seem to have a problem here guys and was hoping someone can help me:

    The situation is like this:

We are School and recently decided that we wanted to implement Microsoft Shared Computer tool, on our students computers.

All good so far, we are installing these computers from our RIS (Remote Installation Server). with a flat windows xp image (only drivers and the standard windows xp gets installed).

Next will we install what application we need from the AD (msi packages).

And finally the computers will update from our WSUS (Windows Update Server).

Now here is the problem, the msi provided from Microsoft will only install if the update KB892130 is present, and since our WSUS dosnt have that update the msi package will fail.

So my question is, is there anyway to have the wsus have that update? or is there another option that i missed?

    Regards

    Stephan

Answers

  • KB892130 is not required for Shared Computer Toolkit.

Can you give me an error output from the msi failing to install?

  • Windows Validation is included in the installer. KB892130 is not required.

  • well you need to validate your windows.....when you run the setup file it asks for a windows validation....so it does need kb892130, or if there is another way to automaticly validate your windows
