Using registered name vs server name in a farm to browse to CRM

  We have a 2 server CRM farm (server1, server2) with a friendly name registered via Deployment Manager for CRM of Friendly.domain.com

  If I go to Server1.domain.com (or Server2 ) and use CRM all works well except sometimes drop down lists are not populated and come up blank. If I go to Friendly.domain.com the drop down lists works every time.

  What we want to find out is if going to server1.domain.com is supported by MS? I am being asked to fix it so that a single high level manager can browse to server1 w/o experiencing this drop down issue. I would like to show them that doing it that way is not supported.

  Does anyone know where i can go to show them they need to use the registered name?
