Windows 7 Home Premium Activation Issues

Question
-
I have a computer we setup a few months ago, including the installation of the OS (Win 7 Home Prem). When I plugged it in today, it requested that the activation code be re-entered, which I did. It is not being accepted, displaying the message:
"The product key you typed cannot be used to activate Windows on this computer."
I attempted to use the automated phone system to activate, and was denied again. I elected to wait for a representative, and was instead disconnected.
I then attempted to find a customer support telephone number for MS on the web, and was led to this page:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950929
Note that it doesn't list a telephone number, and instead points me right back to the activation program that failed to authorize windows in the first place.
I also found this page:
http://support.microsoft.com/ContactUs/default.aspx?scid=gp;[ln];cu_sc_prodact_master&ws=oas
Which again, has no telephone number to contact support.
I visited this page:
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/
Which produced these results:
Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Results
Passed Active scripting allowed Passed Display images enabled Passed Computer time and date correct Passed Cookies enabled Which really doesn't help me. Then I downloaded the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool (1.9.0027.0), which provided me with the following Validation info:

Hello Michael Patino,
Are you entering the product key from the Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) that came with the disc used to install Windows on this computer?
Does the CoA say that it is for Windows 7 Home Premium?
It's easy to mix up the letter "B" with the numeral "8" in the font used on the CoA.
If you have absolutely verified there is no clerical error involved, please retry Telephone activation, but if possible call during normal business hours for your area (West coast USA/PST). When you call, do no enter or say anything into the automated system; it is then supposed to shunt you to a live operator who will activate or explain the problem, if any.

The MGADiag report shows a number of issues....1) the machine has not bee activated (no surprise there then?)2) it's an OEM System Builder install - which presumably is no surprise toyou?3) the latest version of the WGA 'bits' has not been installed (the WATupdate)- fair enough, not 'required'4) The machine's BIOS has not been prepared for a SLP install - not aproblem, since you've used an OEM SB disk to install W7The question has to be asked - have you previously used this Product Key onanother system?? An OEM Key is only valid/legal on the FIRST MACHINE ONWHICH IT IS INSTALLED.I suggest that you install the WAT update - then post back with anotherreporthttp://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=150841for 32-bithttp://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=152411for 64-bitHTH!--Noel PatonCrashFixPCNil Carborundum Illegitemiwww.crashfixpc.co.uk

Hi Michael,
I have checked the product key and it is Valid and Genuine, so no problem there. And since I see no other problems, I believe Dan's suggestion (Activate by Phone and tallk to an Activation Rep) is the correct resolution for this issue.
In checking the Product Key, I see that this key was activated around the same time (or a little after) this thread was created. This suggests that your issue is now resolved, is that correct?
Thank you,
