Cloned hard drive now getting Windows 7 Validation issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • I replaced my hard drive with a bigger one and used "Acronis True Image WD Edition" to clone my hard drive. Now I keep getting a Windows 7 validation error. And it won't do a Windows update. When I go under My Computer, Properties, it says my copy of Windows is already Validated. I try to download and validate again and keep getting errors. Any help would be appreciated. I really want to avoid reinstalling my operating system and losing all my personalizations. Thanks in advance.

I have a SONY VAIO VGN-NW160J, Windows 7 Home premium, 64-bit operating system, the windows 7 is updated from VISTA

  • This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers

try downloading and installing them from here - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=21730

    (you want the iata_enu.exe download)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

  • Thank you. my windows 7 is working normal now. But I still have a little question, do I need to keep the "Intel Rapid Storage Drivers" being installed in my computer? or I can remove it since the Win7 is working fine now, thank you again. Below is the new report from MGADiag.

  • The drivers should be left installed - they should also improve the responsiveness of your system.

Why would you want to uninstall them?

  • Thanks fro your help again, just because the drivers were not installed before, therefore I want to confirm that I need to keep it or not.

Anyway, my vaio is working so smoothly now!

  • The drivers almost certainly were installed before - all you've done is update them, or refresh them.
