  • Question

  • Couple of issues noted:

    1.  Often times, i find that the page "jumps" or respositions itself such that some text are off screen (or browser).  Maximizing the browser does not seem to help as the text is not wrapped any longer

    2.  There are cases where text is off the screen and the horizontal scroll bar is visible.  However using the scroll bar to try and scroll to view the text that is off the screen does not work..instead, it scrolls the header only! new feature?

    3.  Generally, i would say the responsiveness of the forum leaves a bit to be desired. A snappy and quick page would reflect positively on what ever technology is being used to drive these forums.

    4.  Where are all the forums?  I also think the categories and forum groupings needs to to be expanded a bit more.  It is difficult to determine where to post topics related to ASP.NET or Visual Studio 2005.  There also does not seem to be a forum for general use of Visual Studio itself.  If these things are there, then it the layout is likely not intuitive or userfriendly enough i would say.

    5.  Does email notification work? i am not sure that it always does (when Alert Me is checked).

    6.  Lastly, find ways to encourage your engineeros or MVPs to participate more actively.  Many questions are left unaswered.  Eventually if folks feel this is not a place where there issues can be addressed, usage will decline.

    Just some contructive feedback...

  • Your point 6 has nothing to do with the forum software and is thus off-topic, but as an MVP I'll give you a comment on it anyway.

Whether MVPs are active in forums or not is entirely up to them. We are not people who Microsoft can tell to do anything !

That said, I suspect that MVP participation varies according to the subject of the forum and the number and background of MVPs.

I'm a SharePoint MVP and I don't think anyone can complain about the amount of answers SharePoint MVPs give in "our" forums.

What screeen resolution are you running at?

re #3: perf is our #1 priority for the next release. Hopefully you'll find it to be very quick.
re #4: not all forums have been migrated yet. We'll be doing it over the next several months. Some of the forums are still found at the old URL.

Wow, and you're seeing horizonal scrolling? I'm running much lower res than that on each monitor... Can you link me to an example? What browser/os are you using?

  • This issue seems to be fixed by Forum updates.

    Thanks!
