MS CRM login issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

This is probably a small issue but a real frustrating one for the users.

Our agents are trying to access the MS Dynamics CRM application from their desktops and they are facing an issue with that.

They are able to login but the application keeps prompting them for the userid and password again and again. The only way they can get out of it is to click on 'Cancel' on the prompt. When they click on any link after the page has loaded, it prompts for userid and password again (for example, clicking on Accounts , Contacts etc ).

The strange this is that this doesn't happen with my PC. The configuration of client machines is 'Windows XP with SP2' and IE6/IE7. They have added the CRM url to trusted sites in IE, implemented recommended settings for IE etc but still no luck.

Has anyone seen this problem before ? what could be the cause?

    please help

  • Hi Crazy,

Please have the user go to Control Panel -Users- and Make sure to clear their stored passwords.

  • Are they using the CRM Outlook client or Web Client or both?

If using the CRM Outlook Client - run the Diagnostic, if issue still presists - try to reset the IE back to default settings.

If still fails - I would contact CRM Support.

  • What they are missing is to setup automatic login with user name and pw for this url inside of IE. then to make it completely work the site needs to be added to trusted sites.

  • The agents use only Web Client.

The user authentication for Internet, Local Intranet and Trusted Sites is set to 'Automatically Logon with current username and password'. That setting didn't fix the issue.

Also, if the agents access a different URL (diff environment ) from the same machine, it is working fine. No issues with that one. So I was wondering if there is any setting within th server (environment) that might be causing this... Thoughts ?

thank you all for your replies.

  • Can you confirm that the users actually see "Trusted Zone" in the the status bar of IE when CRM opens? If so, just go through the Trusted Zone settings and enable everything and then perform a test.

As this problem does not occur for you then it is unlikely a server side issue. The users should also have Eneble Windows Authentication selected under the Advanced Tab of the the Internet Options dialog.
