How do you get users on 2005 to see and talk to 2007 users? RRS feed

  • Question

  • How do you get users on 2005 to see and talk to 2007 users? I would have thought that they would just be able to communicate with each other, but it's not working for me. I can move users from one to the other, and while they are both in the same pool, they can talk to each other. Help please!

The issue you are having is common if then folowing updates have not been applied to the LCS 2005 SP1 Enterprise or Standard edition.

Description of the update for Live Communications Server 2005: February 10, 2006, rereleased July 11, 2006
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911996/en-us

Description of the Live Communications Server 2005 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package: July 21, 2006
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;%5bLN%5d;921543

These have to be applies in the order they are listed. If you have to install them then please read KB911996 carefully and make sure that you apply the up[date exactly as the article describes. If this update is not applies properly it can stop your LCS 2005 SP1 service until its installation is corrected.

KB921543 - will provide the needed extensibility to the LCS 2005 SIP protocol that it will need to communicate with other thired pert SIP usage and OCS 2007 SIP extensibility.

    Thanks,

  • Do you get any errors on your client computers? Do you get any errors on the server?

Are you able to add the 2005 users as contacts on OC 2007? Can you see presence? Or visa versa?
