CRM 4.0 installation - MS CRM Asynch service won't start logon failure RRS feed

  • Installed CRM 4.0 on Windows Server 2008.   We had a few stops and starts because the 'System Check' portion of wizard had failed for various reasons (SSRS permissions, etc.)  Got those resolved and installed CRM 4.0.  We specified a OurAD\crmservice account to run it.  

    Towards end of install, we got:

    'Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Common.RegisterAsyncServiceAction failed.

    An exception will be ignored and installation will continue.

    However, the application might not function correctly after installation is complete.

    Cannot start service MSCRMAsyncService on computer '.'.

    The service did not start due to a logon failure.

            [Retry]  [Cancel]'

    The CRM service wouldn't start.   We changed the Windows OS - MS CRM Async Service to 'Log on As': "Local System Acct" and that 'works' but maybe is not optimal.

    We installed CRM 4.0 RU 15 and still the same problem occurs.

    We are 100% sure we are typing, in the 'Log on As' - 'This Account' - the correct username and passwd for this OurAD\crmservice account.  And we're able to log into Windows boxes with it.  But still the problem persists.

    Any ideas?  

    Should we keep it  'Log on As': "Local System Acct"  ?

    What does the 'Allow service to interact with desktop' checkbox directly below this "log on as - local system account" tab (Windows OS service) signify?
