Bug: unhandled exception / program crashes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I just used SyncToy for the first time and tried to synchronize a folder (~2.5GB in approx. 10k files) between my laptop computer and my desktop pc via a network connection. It all seemed to work fine when I first did a preview and then started the synchronization. When it was finished, the program reported 67 files in the "failed" column. So I hit "see errors" link and an error window popped up (see below). I clicked the "continue" button and when I scrolled to the bottom of the list of files, I got another message saying the program needs to be closed. BTW: at each file it said "Error: cannot read from the source. Access denied"

This error is reproducible: when I rerun the program and try again to synchronize the remaining files, the program will always crash when scrolling to the bottom of the list of erratic files.

I hope this helps fixing the bug.

    Error Pop-up:
Unhandled Exception has occured (...). Invalid Argument=Value of '68' is not valid for 'index'. Parameter name: index

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

    For example:

        <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

  • I am a newbee as well who installed this programme and tries to run it today.

I had 2 successfull runs, when I tried to backup my pics onto a partition drive of my Vista laptop, and my favorites files of my WXP onto a flash memory stick..

But now that I am trying to back up My Documents folder pair to my e-drive of my WXP PC (onto a DVD/RW),with many subfolders at the size of appx 1,8 Gbs,many exceptions are interupting the preview scanning, and the programme crashes..

Have tried to apply different options for the created "folder pair",but cannot accomplish to finish the scanning.

Tried to unselect subfolders causing the unhandled exception, but when I try to run it again other exceptions pop up causing a vicious circle.

A friend of mine who has recommended this application to me , apparently faces no similar problems.

Any constructive recommendations will be appreciated.

  • Hi!! Liam...

It is me again, concerning SyncToy unhandled "System.overflow exceptions".

My case is exactly similar to "johoo101".

    Just for your facilitation.
