Win 8 client broken after Dec Tuesday update RRS feed

  • Question

  • Following the Tuesday security updates to the server I see this issue/nag screen on my Win 8 Pro client

"Windows Home Server 2011 Connector updates were not
installed. Restart the computer to resolve this issue. If
the problem still persists, uninstall the connector
    software and install it again."

Of course I have restarted a couple times - actually server and client and it does not make any difference.  Also as part of my search found this wiki article: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/3940.sbs-2011-repair-certificate-issues-en-us.aspx, which has some error in step 11. Quote:

    11. In the Certificate Import Wizard, browse to %programdata%\Windows Server\Bin\WebApps\Site\Resources, click CAROOT.CER, and then click Open.

This step is not working for me.

    1. the instruction is wrong in missing the \microsoft\ folder
    2. the folder tree on my server ends with C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\ then data or logs. No Bin folder or else

  • If you're talking about the rollup that came out I had the same problem on two of my machines. What seemed to work for me is logging into the connector in offline mode and then logging into the dashboard. For some reason this would then initiate the message that the computer needed to be restarted for the connector update to be applied. Hope this helps.
