windows vista is genuine in safe mode with network but its not in normal mode

  • hi there

    i had 2 operating system on my laptop one genuine windows vista (came with laptop) and other trail windows 7 for many months....the trail version of windows 7 was expired but i didn't removed from my PC and i formatted it with genuine windows vista cd.....now it starts in safe mode with networking but in normal mode the message appears that windows is not genuine and it takes me to validate online. after going to microsoft.com it shows me about genuine windows 7 but i am validating windows vista home premium which is genuine and came with my laptop............i nearly tried every thing but no use.......

  • Your problem appears to be at least partly that the Software Licensing Service is not running. and it must, if Vista is not to complain.

     Have you been using any form of Registry Cleaner??

    First check that the Service is set to start Automatically –

    Click on Start,

     in the Search box, type

    SERVICES.MSC

    and hit the Enter key.

    Accept the UAC prompt, then look in the listing for the Software Licensing Service – right-click on it and select Properties.

    Make sure that it’s set to Automatic, and click Apply

     

     Once that’s properly set, Start the service – how long before it appears to stop again? Is there anything in the Event Viewer to indicate why it stopped? – is there an error message?

     

     Please run the following commands in an Elevated (Admin) Command Prompt Window, and post the results. 

     

    net start slsvc

    sc qc slsvc

    sc queryex slsvc

    sc qprivs slsvc

    sc qsidtype slsvc

    sc sdshow slsvc

     

      Here are some instructions to make life easier :)

    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the CP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt. 

    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Windows, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once. 

    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

    thanks for your reply... i was using a registry cleaner called CC cleaner which is available at filehippo.com... anyways now the condition of my laptop is black screen with a licensing error message and asking me to validate online trying to validate online the message appears that the validation service was interrupted so windows cannot be state as genuine (some thing like that)

    i had also tried the code :--sfc/scannow

    which has fixed the errors and now i can go back to my desktop normally...and tried all your codes......


    well i tried to start the software licensing services but it was already started....

  • one more thing is that i have also formatted my laptop using genuine cd twice but every time the same error appears....

    it starts after formatting but after it updates and connects to internet... it asks for restart so that it can configure updates but after restarting it goes to black screen again.... and appears the licensing error again.....

    i have also contacted the microsoft team regarding my license but they were not able to fix it. They replied that the key which i am using is genuine.......

    the error (windows Activation) code is 0xC004D401.

  • I would suggest that the first thing  you should do after installation is to update your drivers - and only then should you go to Windows Updates, and update Windows.
