Latin is a dead language RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear friends,

"Latin is a dead language, it's plain enough to see. It killed off all the Romans, and now it's killing me." Latin and Latin roots are, however, widely used in various western languages, and is particularly significant in "legalese". Would it not have been eminently more practical to include Latin, rather than Klingon?

    Sincerely,

    MLP

  • Hi Michael.

    Yes it would. :-)

Klingon was built because the trekkies community rallied and built the data to make it happen. There were clearly no business case for Microsoft to do this. Checks tend to bounce when send to Klingon's home world :-)

For Latin, we would need a similar community effort using our Hub - www.microsoft.com/translator/hub.aspx and we would be happy to help make this happen as we did for other languages where the community drove this: Welsh, Hmong, Mayan, Otomi.
