Unused Programs RRS feed

  • Question

  • Inside my Windows One Care box at the bottle. It recommends that I "Turn Off" unused programs, because it slows my system up. Where do I go to turn off unused programs? :P

  • I've moved your post to the Tune-up folder.

You can choose to ignore the message or you can open OneCare, click Change Settings, and then go to the Tune-up tab. On the Tune-up tab is a button - Change startup settings. Clicking this button will bring up a list of programs OneCare detected to be running at startup and an attempt by OneCare to identify when the program was actually last used. Many of the entries can be safely disabled from starting up and this can help your system performance in some cases. The last used date can be misleading, though, so just clear the checks for programs that you recognize and know that you do not need running at startup.
