  • my brother in law gave me this computer after he blew the hard drive. I called and bought the recovery disks from hp. Everything is fine but when i tried to open microsoft word it's asking for the product key and I don't have that. What do i do?

    WoW sorry to hear about the system blowing Sad. Great the first step has been covered and you have the original recovery media for the HP. Now did your brother purchase Microsoft Word from HP @ the time he purchased the computer? If so then I would recommend for you to work directly with HP and order the recovery media from them as well. Next do you have the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) sticker for Microsoft Word or any of the original packaging whatsoever? The last alternative please review the following Knowledge Base (KB) article, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/326246, “How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and product upgrades, or replace product manuals.
