Live mesh client update?

General discussion

Is live mesh dead?
I mean the windows client has not had a public update since June, the mac client did get updated in october to fix 10.6 support and nothing else. The mobile client has more or less dissapeard, mesh.com says mobile client coming soon. No "offical" windows 7 support and they have not closed/changed a single bug in Connect.
If they want users to continue with this software which could be very interseting they need to give us a blog post that something is coming soon. The memory usage on boot is terrible.Sunday, February 7, 2010 12:43 AM

I think so.
It is a mess what microsoft did with live mesh. I think they merged it into the big azure cloud, but nobody is able to follow it. Because all the developer resources are just dead and silent.
Do you still remember PDC08? There were so many live service and mesh sessions and then at PDC09? Just two or three live services.
I know somebody who says: developers, developers, developers! But today he says: bing, bing, bing! That's a clear focus shift ;-)
But hold on, whats this? http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/liveframework/thread/52e46a6b-2bdc-46bb-ad51-38e1ac5acf37

No, Live Mesh is not dead, though it certainly seems that way.
Microsoft has adopted a habit that is frustrating to us users for products in development - they go silent until they are ready to release it.
Rumor has it that Live Mesh and Live Sync will merge with the upcoming Wave 4 release of Windows Live Services and programs. However, Microsoft has been absolutely silent about actual plans. We'll simply need to wait and see.
Live Mesh beta as we know it today will continue to run, but minimal communication seems to be the norm. The alternative is probably less desirable - they could shut down the environment and we'd need to wait for the next beta to start all over again...

So all my hopes go to Mix10, there will be the new windows phone, there will be silverlight on mobiles and there will be live mesh and maybe more of live services!
Can't wait for so much new things.
But it's strange why can't they just show a roadmap where they are heading? In times of agile development it is not very clever to shut down communication for over 6 months!

Unfortunately, that's the way Microsoft has decided to handle things of late. No news at all until they are ready to release something to the public.

What does this mean? What are you currently experiencing? Live Mesh does currently throttle its own bandwidth usage - at least it is supposed to. It won't saturate the connection, especially with the PC is in use.

I can't navigate during upload!I use the last version.. What could be the problem? I thought it was a common problem!Tuesday, February 9, 2010 2:02 PM -
There have been a few other reports of what you're experiencing. I don't recall any specific solution, though it isn't normal. It could be a resource issue on the PC, a sow Internet connection, interaction with security software on the PC, or a bug in the Live Mesh client exposed on your PC. Since we're waiting for an updated client, I'm not sure that a bug report would be useful, but you are welcome to submit one.
How to Submit Bugs and Live Mesh Logs
Note that you may not receive a response to the bug report, though. It will be transferred to the internal system to be assigned to the appropriate development group.

First of all: thank you for your answer.
Well.. I can tell you that i don't think it's related to my PC because I have no internet security software..
And I think it is not related to my internet connection (an ADSL connection) because I use the same connection via wi-fi with my mobile with no problem!
I try to update my client but it says it's updated..
So I was sure that it was a known problem!
I hope in an update..
I will submit my log as soon as possibile!Tuesday, February 9, 2010 8:35 PM -
No security? Not even antivirus software and the Windows firewall? That's not unheard of, but sure is risky behavior, if true. If your PC is not behind a router, you need the firewall or your PC *will* be compromised.

I use PC since I was 7.. I took a virus for the first time 1 mouth after the first time I turn on my PC (a floppy from a friend of mine). It was the first AND LAST virus in my life! :)Wednesday, February 10, 2010 2:37 PM -
Got it! You had me worried there with the no security line. ;-)
You're absolutely correct with your comment about our brain. Most malware these days infects PCs because of user behavior.

It was my fault: I'm italian and my english is rusty day by day..
I wanted to say that I don't use software like Norton and others that close doors and so on..
But I was too hasty..! :)
Thank you anyway.Thursday, February 11, 2010 11:35 PM -
Your English is 100% better than my Italian, so no worries!
