Activation On Multiple Machine RRS feed

  • Question

  • About a year ago we bought 40 laptops, in which the manufacture refused to sell without an O/S, so no volume license.  Due to time constraints we went ahead with the purchased with Vista Business.  However since the machines came with a ton of useless software, and because we maintain standard workstation images, we chose to re-image each of the machines with our image and activate each machine manually.  We ran into issues with the machine deactivating after about 30 days.  We contacted Microsoft and they advised us that the manufature has software on their image that would have kept the from happening had we used the restoration software.  They then helped us get through the process of getting all the machines activated.  As with all business' we need to reimage these workstation to meet new demand, is there a way we can reactivate each of the machines with out having to go through the phone process we did before.  Even at 6 minutes per machine the time to do 40 machines is a lot man hours.

  • Hello epsinc,

Unfortunatly, using OEM licenses, I can not see any other process then the one you used before and buying Volume Licenses to replace the OEMs would probably cost more then the man hours spent re-activating the OEM licenses.

Very sorry I couldn't be more help,
