MCSD.NET 1.1 certification expiration? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to determine when the MCSD.net 1.1 framework certification expires. If anyone knows if and when the certificaiton expires please let me know.

I am trying to determine this in order to see if i should upgrade to the 3.5 framework equivalent or get a certification in another area like BI.

    Thanks for the help.

  • Hi,

The certifications do not expire just the exams.
If you wish to get 3.5 framework certs just do them directly, I do not think the upgrade path is practicle (it would be via .Net 2.0) and it would be more painful than starting again.

There are a lot more options and technology than before so only two exams is enough for MCTS and three for MCPD (in web or windows).

BI is only one exam for MCTS and two for MCITP so that is another option if that is your area of expertise.

    Hope this helps,

  • Sorry not sure.  Probably better to ask on the partner site.

I checked on the MCP site and found in the FAQ on retired exams, the answer

    Q. After these exams retire, can I complete the related credential?
    A. You can complete a credential as long as exams are available to fulfill all of your credential requirements.

But I still think you are better off following my advice, there are previous posts discussing how to get from 1.1 => 2.0 => 3.5.

    Happy to help thanks,

  • Ozzy,

Thanks for the reply, one more thing. The company i work for is a gold partner and i want to make sure that microsoft will still give us points/credit toward the partnership program based on MCSD.NET.

So does it ever expire in terms of getting credit for it from microsoft toward the partnership program?

    thanks again,
