  • Question

  • We would like to integrate the articles from our Web site CMS into the CRM knowledge base. Can we manually import a file (e.g. XML) of our Web CMS content into the CRM KB as a KB Article? Does Microsoft CRM Dynamics allow us to import data into the Knowledge Base (KB) entity?

  • Crm 2016 introduced a new entity structure for articles, so the first consideration is whether you want to use the Crm 2016 structure (which uses a knowledgearticle entity), or the pre-Crm 2016 structure (which uses a kbarticle entity).

Each entity allows import of data. The content in a Crm 2016 knowledgearticle entity is stored (and imported) as HTML, whereas the kbarticle entity content is stored as xml

  • You first need to decide on which way the data will flow, and when are changes applied. Based on the original post, if you just want to periodically import knowledge articles, then you could use the file import mechanism to do this manually.

If you want to automate the process or update existing records, I'd use a tool like SSIS or Scribe. There are 3rd party SSIS connectors for CRM from KingswaySoft or CozyRoc
