CRM 2011 for Outlook -MSCRMAddin fails RRS feed

  • Question

  • After installing the CRM 2011 for Outlook client, I am receiving the following error in the application event log:

    *********************************************************

    MSCRMAddin  EventID: 5903

The Microsoft CRM Outlook add-in could not be initialized correctly. Restart Microsoft Outlook and try again. HR=0x80004005. Context=. Function=CAddin::OnConnectionInternal. Line=160

    *********************************************************

The PC is based on Windows XP w/SP3 (x86) and has Office 2007 w/SP2 installed.  I have tried this with both the initial release of CRM 2011 (build 5.0.9688.583) and also after applying the recent rollup #2 (build 5.0.9688.1155).

I able to successfully install the CRM for Outlook client, however I notice this behaviour after the end-user has run through the CRM configuration wizard.  I notice that this process adds a "2nd" Outlook addin, and upon restarting Outlook after this configuration process, both the MSCRM addin entries are shown as disabled and this seems to cause Outlook to crash accordingly.

  • Hello Ian,

Try uninstall completely the application and than install again:

    A. Uninstall "Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 for from ‘Add/Remove Programs’ in the 'Control Panel'

    B. Delete the following folders from the machine:
    "C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\MSCRM"

    And

    "C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MSCRM"

    C. Delete the following registry keys:

Click Start -> Run -> type 'RegEdit' -> Browse to the following locations:

    HKEY_Local_Machine/Software/Microsoft/MSCRM (Delete the 'MSCRM' folder)

    And

    HKEY_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/MSCRM (Delete the 'MSCRM' folder)

    D. Install again

    Hope this help.

  • Unfortunately, neither of these suggested solutions seem to make any difference.  The CRM addin for Outlook still appears to be causing Outlook to crash and is causing on-going serious issues with our end-users.

P.S.  We are now up to Rollup 6 (having stepped through all previous rollups) and have continued to witness these issues re-occur.
