Office 2007 not genuine question RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently became infected with a virus, which our IT department fixed, and then they installed Kaspersky-Anti Virus.  After all of this occurred, I begin getting a message saying my copy of office was not genuine -- I've had the computer over a year, it's a dell, and the software came preinstalled, and I never had this issue.

    Here is the diagnostic you asked for:

  • Hello chriswelsh79,

    Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 103 Blocked VLK
    Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 - 100 Genuine
    Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 - 103 Blocked VLK
    OGA Version: Registered, 2.0.48.0
    Signed By: Microsoft
    Office Diagnostics: B4D0AA8B-604-645_025D1FF3-230-1

    Your Dell OptiPles 740 currently has a nongenuine installation of Office Enterprise 2007.  This installation is a Volume Licensing installation that was done with a now-blocked Volume Licensing Key.  A "blocked" VLK is one that was issued by Microsoft to a business, educational institution, or governmental agency for their exclusive use in accordance with a Volume Licensing Agreement.  (Note that such use does NOT allow the resale of such VLKs.)  However, because the VLK may have been reported lost, stolen, or compromised to the internet by the original keyholder, or because the Volume Licensing Agreement has expired, Microsoft has blocked the VLK from further use.

    Normally, legitimate users of Volume Licensing editions of Office are associated with larger business, educational, or governmental organizations.  Given what you wrote about the IT department removing the virus, that sounds like your situation, so please contact your organization's IT support staff for further assistance with the nongenuine notice.  If your organization has a genuine VLK for Office Enterprise 2007, your IT staff can change the installed product key in a couple of minutes so that your Office installation can be Genuine once again.

    Your installation of FrontPage 2003 is reporting as a Genuine installation of a retail licensed product, so no worries there :-).
