Invalid Product Key error RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Computer manufacturers often install a trial version of Microsoft Office in computers they build.  If your Office came pre-installed in your PC and you are receiving a prompt to type in a Product Key when opening a Microsoft Office program (and when you enter the key from the sticker on the side or bottom of the computer and you get an Invalid Product message) it is likely that your copy of Office is a Trial version and you were attempting to enter the Windows Product key from the Windows Certificate of Authenticity (COA) sticker.

If you paid for a Full version of Office to come with your new PC, then the Product Key for that Office would be either located in the documentation that came with the PC or with the Office reinstall disks that would have come with the PC.
