dxdiag from command line has no output

Question
-
Hi. I'm trying to run dxdiag from the command line to generate some diagnostic output. dxdiag works fine if I run it with no parameters (the GUI appears and I am able to save the data). If I run dxdiag from the command prompt with some parameters the command returns immediatelly and I get no output file created. The commands I have tried are a number of variations on: dxdiag /dontskip /whql:off /t dxdiag.txt. I am running the tool when the command prompt is in a writable directory. My OS is Windows 7 64. Thanks.

Banus, thank you for trying to answer the question but you haven't really read it properly. I have no trouble opening the dialog. I DO have trouble getting some output into a text file from the command prompt.Wednesday, May 4, 2011 4:45 PM

There is a DirectX forum owned by the DirectX team at http://forums.create.msdn.com/forums/50.aspx, but it is for API questions, you can give it a try but I won't be surprised if your new post get moved just like this one.
You probably want to modify your posts on Microsoft answers to give more information, such as the error level that sometimes indicate what went wrong when the process exists. You can get the error level by adding ECHO %ERRORLEVEL% in your batch file, right after the dxdiag call.

Thank you. This option helped me. But earlier dxdiag and msconfig functions used to show the command box directly when searched in the search box in the start. But it has been disabled now. How it can be taken to the earlier state of search?Friday, July 31, 2015 2:05 PM
