  • i purchased a pc from a friend of a friend with microsoft windows xp professional and lately it has been saying you may be a victim of software counterfieting so i purchased a microsoft windows xp home edition from pc world by accident and now i need to uninstall windows xp proffesional to be able to install my home edition.

    I have tried uninstalling it from add/remove programs-its not possible-there is nothing there to do with uninstalling xp professional, i have tried restarting and pressing  f8 to go to safe mode and do it that way but nothing seems to help. i have tried the cd which came wth the home edition and that dosent work. sigh!

    You have to do a clean installation of XP Home.

    Use XP Home Setup to delete the installation of XP Pro, in the tutorial above this happens at step 10b.  Be sure to offload any files you want to save because repartitioning and reformatting the hard disk means all data is erased.
