Windows 7 not genuine? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Brought the copy of Windows 7 Ultimate over a year ago and then the comp crashed before I could install it. After a year of saving for a new one, I install and get this blocked error.
Would you be able to help?

  • Your copy is counterfeit.  It claims to be a Retail version, but the 068 portion of the Product ID shows it is a Not-For-Resale MSDN install.  You should demand a full refund immediately and do NOT accept an offer of another activation key if such an offer is made.

You will need to purchase a legal copy, format your drive and reinstall.  Be sure to back up your data to an outside location prior to doing this.

  • Seeing how long ago that was purchased, I doubt it will happen. The seller is out of the software hocking likely because they got found out.
