Carrying across user defined fields when promoting Leads to Opportunities RRS feed

    We are new users of CRM 4.0 and are in the process of customising our system

     

    We have customised our Leads and Accounts to add fields to capture additional information we are interested in - like does the company have an IT Manager. The same fields have been added to both Lead and Account entities.

     

    What is the best way to have the CRM copy this information from a Lead to a newly created Account when we promote a Lead to an Account/Contact/Opportunity ? So when we promote a lead with 'Has IT Manager' ticked then the created account automatically has this field ticked too.

     

    We have SQL and .NET skills if this needs some code written but I'm hoping there is an easier way !

  • Open Lead Customization Form and Select 1:N relationship  from left navigation menu. And select account_originating_lead record and open properties. Select mapping from left navigation menu. and click Add button select your account have an IT Manager field source and destination.
