How to make user changes in Steady State RRS feed

  • Question

We are using Steady State v2.5 on our XP computers in a domain environment.  User profiles are mandatory.  Windows Disk protection is turned on.  I had to add an icon to this user's desktop.  When you click on the icon, it asked you if you want to run this program.  There is also a check box that says "Always ask before opening this file".  If its not checked, you are no longer prompted with this question.  I want to uncheck this box with this users profile but with WDP set, the question keeps coming back.  What do I need to turn off in order for this change to stick?

  • Hi Jim,

Yes, you may need to disable Windows Disk Protection to save the change permanent. This is because any changes on the system partition would not be saved if you set to Remove all changes after start.

After you make the change, you may turn on Windows Disk Protection again.
