Service pack for Windows. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I need to check for SP1 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

Which patch I should look for?

Also, which patch I should look for Service Pack 2 on Windows Server 2008?

  • Hi Amaatya.

Open a command prompt and execute the ver command: if Service Pack 1 is installed, you'll get "6.1.7601" for the version number on both Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2; alternatively, click Start, right-click on Computer and then click on Properties to display the System properties window that will show "Service Pack 1" if the Service Pack is installed.
There is no Service Pack 2 for Windows Server 2008 R2, there is only for Window Server 2008 and it can be downloaded from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16468.

    Bye.

  • Hi Amaatya,

You can also view if Service Pack 1 (SP1) is installed by:

    1. Going to Start, right-click on Computer and then click on Properties.

    2. You should see if Service Pack 1 is installed or not, if it's installed it will look like this:

You can download Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 / Windows 7 over here:

    Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932)
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5842

You can download Service Pack 2 for Windows Server 2008 over here:

Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (KB948465)
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16468

    Best regards,
    Leon
