How do I link directly to a specific post? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know there used to be a way to do this.  I recall the workaround being posted by another user here.

As I remember it, you needed to right click on the reply/quote options, then remove the /reply or /quote tag at the end of the shortcut.

I can't find the previous post, and the steps I'm following above aren't working.

Is there some way to link directly to a specific post in a thread?

    Thanks,
    Mark

  • GRRRRR

I found the answer in a different forum.  From one of my own posts :)

So I guess this discussion doesn't belong in forum issues.  Please move to the suggestions forum and let's discuss why this feature hasn't been implemented yet :)

No single-step methods but less cumbersome IMO than what you are doing would be using the RSS button (at top of a thread page).   A link in such an RSS feed is a Message-ID link.   Also, if you are just looking for Last Reply you can already get that with right-click Copy Shortcut on that link in a message list.  Another helpful source if you use the Community NNTP Bridge is extracting it from the Archived-At: header.  Lots of steps (at least in WLMail) but it still seems more direct than the original workaround that web users had to resort to.   E.g. in WLMail with the message open in the Preview pane I typically use  Alt-Enter, Ctrl-Tab, Tab and cursor up to the header, then more keystrokes to actually do the capture.   If you use the thread's RSS feed in WLMail you can just click a post's View Online button and then capture its URL from the Address bar.

Good suggestion, fewer clicks than mine.  Thanks!
