What AV/FW to run on WHS RRS feed

  • What would be a good anti virus and firewall too run on WHS?

  • Good question. I'd like to know that, too.

    Being built on Srv2003 platform will it need only server supported AV/FW? I guess the answer is 'yes'

    Licenses for server software are quite more expensive than those 'personal/to use at home'

  • I've heard that both Trendmicro and Clamwin can run on the server architecture, but I'm unable to verify this until I get mine installed.  I know AVG Free doesn't work unless you purchase the network edition for server 2003.

    As far as firewalls are concerned this product is designed for users who already have a router/firewall in place.  a software firewall would only take up system resources unless you have a specific use for it.  For instance, I used to run a game server on an old server machine (not a true server OS, just a spare computer) and I used PeerGuardian to block specific IP's of people "banned" from the game.
