file sync for multiple disconnected branches via FTP RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

we got a company with 10 branches and need to keep certain files synced between branches (e.g. branchA, B and C work on the same project and need to sync parts of the file structure which each other).

As the file systems are not directly accessible to each other e.g. there are no common file shares I was wondering how this could be implemented with SyncFx.

The idea is that branchA copies the needed files to FTP and branchB downloads them and uses them for the sync.

But how does SyncFx now what files to sync if it doesn't have access to both file systems at the same time (and the projects are multi TB's in size e.g. wont fit on FTP).

One solution could be to have a database in the middle which stores a snapshot of the file systems and use the database to feed directory/file information to SyncFx instead of going directly to the file system.

Would this be possible? If yes how could I do it please?

What would be some other options please?

    Thanks,
    Patrick
