I would suggest your email fissues at microsoft.com. Tell them exactly what you want to do (change your display name) and describe the error you get when you attempt to do this. They should be able to figure out what the problem is.

Interesting, you might have accidentally gotten switched into another language. You can try to change it back to english by clicking the text just above your name in the upper right hand corner. Because this is a profile question, I'm going to move this to the profile forum.
Thanks,

Further to what Mike is saying, see the attached screenshot with the language set wrong, and the drop down dialog allowing me to choose United States (English)

I put in my new display name
I see the spinning circle.......... up on the my profile tab up next to the URL
then I get a "windows cant display the page " error
after that its like I never tried to change it ...all is still the same
but when I am entering new display names the system sis interacting with me...telling certain names are already in use.....
this is the way it is for me for like a year now that I ahve wanted to getthe display name changed

This forum is for discussions and questions regarding profiles and Microsoft's recognition system on the MSDN and TechNet sites. It is not for products/technologies.
As it's off topic here, I am moving the question to the "Forums Issues" forum.
