Rick 007,
Your issue is related to Product Activation. The purpose of this forum is the support of the OGA program and your question falls out of the scope for our support. In an attempt to assist I would like to provide some information which may help. I do suggest trying to activate using the “Activate by Phone” method from the activation Wizard. Telephone numbers for Activation Centers vary by product license and country/region. Use the number provided on your Activation Wizard screen to call the Microsoft Activation Center. Please follow the below guidance for telephone activation for your version of Office:
1) Start any Office program.
2) In the “Office Activation Wizard”, click the “Activate by using the telephone” option, and then click Next
3) Read the “Microsoft Office Privacy Policy” page, and then click “Next”.
In the “Select your location” list, select a country or region. Call the telephone number that is listed on line 2. The customer service agent will ask you for the installation ID and will give you a confirmation ID in return. Type the confirmation ID in the boxes provided.4) Click “Next”.
5) On the “Activation Complete” page, click “Finish”.
Here are various websites which will explain Activation as well as provide you with troubleshooting processes should you experience any and/or further complications:

Hi Lori,
I, too, cannot activate my MS Office 2007 Home and Student edition, despite the fact that I followed all the steps indicated in another one of these amazing array of help forums, including that I have validated Vista, validated IE AND validated MS Office ... it continues to tell me the product key, from the brand new package I just bought at Best Buy along with the brand new Dell Inspiron I just bought -- at the same time -- from Best Buy, because the salesman assured me that Vista is a good product and all the problems people have were with the intitial product.
No offense, but, what a bunch of bull.
And, then when I called the so-called "Geek Squad" to get them to help me (like I PAID for), they tell me to call the "phone number" ... unfortunately NO WHERE ON THE MS OFFICE PACKAGE, OR ANYWHERE IN ANYTHING THAT APPEARED WHEN I SPENT TWO HOURS TRYING TO INSTALL MS OFFICE AND ITS 250 MB OF UPDATES AND ITS (NON-WORKING) PRODUCT KEYS DOES IT EVER, EVERY TALK ABOUT ANY "ACTIVATION" WIZARD.
If I may ask, how was I supposed to know that there are phone numbers, to call if I had not just stumbled upon your attempt to help someone else?
I've now spent a total of over 3 hours trying to install a genuine MS product, into a genuine MS operating system, into a brand new machine.
