Deploy a second FRONTAL CRM 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

We are trying to deploy a second CRM frontal on an existing CRM 2011 Rollup 11.

Our question is if there is any risk if there are an existing Organization running and we deploy a second frontal because we will install CRM Server and then the rollup 11.

Meanwhile there are a CRM deployment that is at rollup 11 and a frontal to build release. There are any risks ?

Must we backup MSCRM_CONFIG before this change?

    Cheers

  • I would always create a Backup for MSCRM_Config, while performing a change in deployment type.

Adding a second frontend Server you have to make sure that all clients get a value out of it. So typically you will create an NLB to address your crm with one URL. Or you will have to create different client deployments - one directing to Server A, other to Server B.

You can take a look at the implementation guide to get all the settings needed.

  • Hi Carsten,

In a nutshell we will install a new CRM frontal. Then we will create an NLB to a unique URL to balance the workload.

It is posible to deploy a new frontal and sometime ago create the NLB ? I mean that the CRM sessions will go throught the second frontal after install it ?

Another point is that We have realiced that Frontal, Backend and Sharepoint have diferrent Rollups installed. Can they coexist ? I know that in the best scenario they would be all of them at the same rollup.

Anyway I will follow your recommendation and will backup the MSCRM_CONFIG before install the second frontal.

    Cheers.
