I have read as much as I can to understand the phone numbers that end up in OC 2007 including Jeff Schertz's great blogs but I am still at a loss and could use some help.
In order to get phone numbers & extensions in OC I ended up reformatting all numbers in AD via a script and they are now like this
telephonenumber = +xxxx (this is the users VOIP extension) othertelephone = +1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx mobile = +1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx
The issue I run into is that when users are traveling and use Exchange Activesync to look up contacts on their phone they never get the DID number which is under othertelephone. The reason telephonenumber is the extension is to make it easy for people to get and extension from Outlook. I tried it using the DID under telephonenumber and extension under other but too many users complained.
So, what I'd like to do is have telephonenumber formated in AD as:
+1 (555) 555-5555 x5555
With this, I'd like to see only extension in OC or the whole thing if necessary. In the end, we should also be able to call the extension via OC once our phone system is integrated.
Is this possible and if so can someone please detail what is needed.
