onecare restore cannot continue RRS feed

  • Had to reinstall computer to factory install. now after reinstalling onecare I cannot restore from my backup file. file is on another computer on my network. after selecting the backup location on my network it says "windows could not find a backup device or network folder containing a backup to restore" I have checked the file and all my backup files are their.

  • Did you select to restore "from another computer" then navigate to the location/backup you wish to restore? If you reinstall youe operating system and reinstall One Care, it sees the reinstalled computer as a new computer with no files backed up.

  • Yes I chose that, I even did another backup to my network and tried a restore and it worked. but still will not work with my original file.

  • Perhaps it is a permissions issue. See this Microsoft Knowledge Base article on configuring permissions on a centralized backup device - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943909 If that does not resolve the issue I suggest contacting support.
