PATA to SATA RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Recently I've been working on trying to recover and remove files from old hard drives and soon met a problem with my MB not having a PATA connection. I did some looking and found that there are PATA to SATA converter boards, but i'm not sure if they are effective and will work.

It is something i actually need to have, both for home use and work use, as i recently learned. where is the best place to buy one, and which would be the best one to get?

The hard drives at PATA connections, but i have spare SATA connections to use to connect it to the computer. any advice would be appreciated.

also, i am unsure where i should ask this question so i thought it best to put it in the learning and training section.

  • This is more of a hardware issue/question than anything Microsoft related.  Best recommendation is to get a PATA to USB connector to get the files off of the PATA drive.  These are fairly inexpensive and do work.
