Blocked Windows 7 Product Key

Question

Hi,
I've seen the thread: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinewindows7/thread/a2444f34-0aff-4f29-a8ac-67e28b0c0285 detailing issues with MSDN product keys being resold and to post a new thread if you are having a similar issue.
I bought 2 copies of Windows 7 Professional from Amazon UK Marketplace, for the price of an OEM copy so nothing looked odd. I even contacted the seller to clarify this is a full version and I hadn't missed anything, got the retail package, sealed with plastic and no indication that anything was wrong. I bought these copies July 2010 and have had them installed from then.
Last night I was working on my laptop and suddenly my laptop was saying windows was not activated anymore and I might be a victim of software counterfeiting, I post below MGADIAG report as requested. I'd like to know what I can do, I don't think its fair that Microsoft is deactivating these copies when there is no way for end users to know the software is counterfeit . If I was told it was an MSDN product when activating I could of sent them back and got a refund but its most likely too late now, this is possible since activation is done through Microsoft servers.

The pirates have got VERY good at this over the past few years, as the price of equipment for manufacturing the packages drops, and as factories open in less well-policed countries.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions, I have since been in contact with Amazon Marketplace and even though it was another seller operating under their name and its been over 6 months they have still refunded the money so I have been able to buy legit copies now. I'm very impressed with Amazon refunding this money, I wasn't expecting to get anything back as it was sold through Amazon Marketplace.Thursday, February 17, 2011 4:26 PM

I am glad to hear Amazon did that. You can report the piracy to

I suspect that the vendor was reported some time ago, and his account frozen to be able to pay back later complainants (at least, that's the way I'd do it if I was Amazon!)
