Different Reporting Periods for Task and Timesheet in MSP Server 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need some confirmation regarding reporting time in MSP Server 2010.

I am working with organization that would like to submit their assignment progress on project tasks
to the project managers (or status manager) on a weekly basis (using PWA > Tasks), but we would like to to submit
timesheets to the resource managers every two weeks (via PWA > Timesheet).  Is this workable solution?

From what I can tell with the test that I've done using the demo image for Server, if a resource submits
their task to a PM (or Status Manager), then the hours entered will be automatically transcribed on the Timesheet.
Is this correct?  Then, in the 2nd week, the resource can fill out their timesheet with which will include the project
activities submitted in the first week.  The PM (or Status Manager) will only have to approve the delta (the hours
submitted in week 2.  Is this correct?

Is there any consequences or problems in working this way?

  • I think I can answer my own question here... in 2010 it looks like from the Timesheet you can fire off "status updates" to towards the project manager(s).
