Authentication Error after installing hotfix

Question

Hi everyone,
We installed a hotfix from Microsoft (KB940346) to our CRM 3 (with Rollup 2) server. The installation was "successful", but now when we try to access the CRM site, we get the error:
Authentication Error
Microsoft CRM could not log you on to the system. Make sure your user record
is enabled and that you have been assigned at least one security role. For
more information, contact your system administrator.I've gone to Deployment Manager, and I still see all my AD users there.
I'm not sure if Microsoft is working on weekends, but we absolutely have to get this up and running by Monday. Can anyone help please?

Use Process Monitor (available as a download), search for Process Name = w3wp.exe, Operation = RegOpenKey, and Result = NAME NOT FOUND.
If there are any such errors, jump to that registry key (right click and jump to) and see if it contains any file names with full path is designated in a mixture of 8.3 short format and long format (eg, c:\program files\microsoft\CRM\server\bin\crmobj~1.dll).If there are, then correct it with the correct full filename (put quotes "" around the string if necessary).
As always, be very careful when changing the Registry, and do a backup before doing any changes.
HTH. If you still can't resolve the problem, you may have to put up a support request to Microsoft, as I did.

Hi,
Thanks for the information but i am not able to do it..
My Exact problem is,
Yes I already assigned him a role then I also try a add new user, its working fine. It's not a lincense issue.
Our CRM setup is the following:
2 load balance CRM web server
1 Stand Alone CRM Web Server
all of them is connected to 1 DB
You can access all of them in 1 single URL
The weird thing is we acess the stand alone CRM web server using IP or machine name the user can logon to the CRM but we always use the common URL to access our CRM server. Only this user experince this authentication error.
Thanks in advance!Wednesday, December 17, 2008 6:50 AM -
I think your issue is completely different from the issue I had. Sorry I haven't encountered this problem before. Can anyone else help?
