Can not find backed up user folder RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have had a disaster with one of my PC's hard drives which were one of a pair installed as RAID stripe. So I have installed a new set. Vista 64bit has been reinstalled and after installing connector I cannot find my user folder in any of the backups in WHS. They should contain a lot of valuable photographs so I am very keen to find them.

That folder should be there unless you specifically excluded it when you setup the backups.  Can you see other files (Windows files, program files, other users, etc)?

  • Yes other folders are there. Even public folder under Users folder is there. I have a feeling that it may not be there because I moved it to another drive with a symbolic link with the intention of keeping data separate from everything else and then moved it back again after I changed my mind.

Don't know what happened. I have just done a backup with the new installation and all the user folders are there.
