Failed to create folder pair: error 80070005 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Synctoy 1.4 was working fine at my Vista (home edition) laptop, but I can not get Synctoy 2.1 working. I get the message:

"Failed to create folder pair. Het ophalen van de COM-classfactory voor het onderdeel met CLSID {C201...} is mislukt vanwege de volgende fout: 80070005"

I read about similar problems in this forum and others, but I do not understand how to solve the probem.

    I tried following:

    - I made myself owner of the Synctoy-folder.

    - Made administrators owner of the Synctoy-folder

    - Made system owner of the Synctoy-folder

    - Gave myself, system and administrators  all permissions

    - Uninstalling with Revo uninstaller and reinstallSynctoy 2.1

    - Reinstall Synctoy as administrator

    - Going back to an image from Oktober 1st, to start "clean"again

    - Windows updates are installing fine, except Live essentials. It was the first time I had a Windows Live essentials update and I have not tried again or looked into that.

    - First installing SyncSDK v2.0 and after that installing Synctoy 2.1

I do not have UAC on.

I hope somebody can explain to me what I am doing wrong.

    Thank you,

    Angela

  • What program did you switch too?

  • FreeFileSync. Great program. Really synchronises, fast, easy to use and you are able to change actions manually. I think I still will have to find a way around  the DST-problems, but I am more than glad with FreeFileSync.
