Notebook can't find Central backup device

Question
-
My desktop PC is connected to a USB/1394 external hard drive and is set as a hub PC. The desktop recognizes my notebook and the desktop seccessfully backs up to the central device. The backup plan is set for all PC's, but my notebook cannot find the central backup device. Is the problem with the connection between my notebook and the desktop/backup device, or is it with the settings?

File and prininter sharing is turned on on both pcs, also for internet.
Okay, the it would appear that the reason you can't browse is not a OneCare problem.
Have a look at the following links for how to set up Sharing in XP.

Is the notebook connected wireless and the desktop wired? In OneCare, Change Settings/Firewall/Configure Network is the network identified as Home or Work on both the desktop and laptop? Can you browse the external drive on the desktop via Windows Explorer from the laptop?

Were you able to browse before you installed OneCare? Are there any Shared folders or drives on the desktop?
In OneCare on both PCs is File and Printer Sharing for local subnet checked in the advanced firewall tab? You may want to also select to enable File and Printer Sharing for Internet.
