Problem with Sync service RRS feed

  • Question

  • My application uses MS Sync services for synchronization. I installed "SyncServices.wm.cab"  in the mobile device. When I try sync process, i am getting error "Microsoft.Sychronization.Data.dll 1.0.600 missing". This is happening in only one device(Motorol MC9090) and other devices are working fine.

When i manual copy the dll into the mobile's application folder, sync is working fine.

I am facing this problem with only one device.

How to check whether sync service DLLs installed or not in the device?

  • How to check whether sync service DLLs installed or not in the device?

The cab does (only) the following when installed on the device:

§  Copies the following files to \Windows directory

    ·         Microsoft.Synchronization.Data.dll

    ·         Microsoft.Synchronization.Data.SqlServerCe.dll

Note: Installing the cab does NOT GAC the dll’s.

.NET Compact Framework GACs the dll’s the next time an application that references the dll is run .

After installing the cab, there will be entry in Add/Remove programs as “Sync Services for ADO.NET 1.0”.

In .NET CF, when the dll’s are GAC’ed, they are deleted from the original location and copied to \Windows with a different name, GAC_<assembly name>_<version …>. This is done to save space on devices.

    Hope useful to you, thanks.
