    according to the rules u need to get 10000 points to be eligible for the prizes......maybe they wil consider the top 500 ranks if not many cross the limit

    The 10K limit is fixed, and was clear since the start of this contest. I think the admins have purposefully put this criteria, as they wanted us to really work hard to get the points. Also any MS event aint just that easy to win. It has a good level of toughness. But it would really be nice if the admins reduc the limit. But even if they reduce the limit say to 6K as you requested, others will complian asking to reduce the limit to 5K so many people who were just few points in short of 6K can also get included. So this will create chaos amongst everyone. So the admins will just not modify the limit.

    I think they should not modify the limit also more of programming sort of stuff should have been there

    you have rightly stated that everyone will start complaining then.
    they should advertise about this more next year go to colleges to get the attention of students and should keep a target of 1,00,000 participants ,more programming stuff,inbuild queries and help regarding programming and more points for programming to make the compediton really tuf and get the real techie best out of the lot .

    Yes m8, the admins will not decrease the limit this time. But what they can do is, they can try decreasing the limit in the next years contest, or try giving more opportunities as Preetam suggested like more programming, etc etc.

    Anyways, i got no complains, if you guys joined the contest since the start, and have been consistent,i am sure you would have crossed the 10K limit.

    Even if everyone  is participating since the start, not more than 50 would have been able to cross the 10k limit.. Forums points of 1000 goes to only top 10 and to achieve 10k points, one should have got 1000 points in forums as well as quiz for atleast 2 or 3 months...

    I agree with you Raghuram. But i think while developing the strategy of this contest, the admins might have thought that there would be enough IC and MSAPP people who would qualify,. May be they got a good chance to directly jump into the top 10 Smile

    Opportunities and Rewards:

    Guys here is  a point to be discussed on. See the 2nd point, it says about 1000 express... blah blah. Now there is no * in the 2nd point; * is only applicable for point 1 Stick out tongue


    Now an experss cd set consists of 2 cds, so there will be 500 cd-sets. + 500 desktop calendars.


    Here is the question : Does it mean that who have not crossed 10K, and still are in top 500 will still get the cds and desktop calendars ???



    I have raised this point during the start of this contest, no one responded to it Stick out tongue I hope there is good discussion about this now.

    I feel they will still distribute the express CD's and the calender because the people in the 500 have taken many pains and devoted their crutial time and energy for this and they definately deserve these gifts.

     

    But can you tell more about the contents of these express CD's

    They contain express editions of VS 2005 for vb.net, c#, sql server express edition , and some video tutorials on the other cd. These were the contents of the express cd last time when my friend got an expresscd from microsoft.

    Dear Harshil,

     

    Greetings, you guys see for gifts but I am really working not for cd's or for other gifts. My college and city is not well aware of all these concepts for that reason they should redeem the points to about the least.

    @Fredrick - Earlier when this contest started, there was a redemption feature. I think its been removed now, there is no mention about it in the site now. I hope the admins add it after june-15th. so that who have missed out few points, can use their hard earned points .
